Hairstyle Options For Your Wedding

Hairstyle Options For Your Wedding

You’ve found your dress, picked out your shoes, and all the attendants have outfits. Now it is time to figure out your hairstyle options that go with the dress. Are there a lot of options if you have short hair? Are you considering extensions? Can’t decide between up or down for your medium length to long hair? We have compiled some style ideas no matter your length of hair.

First

One thing to consider before you even want to style your hair is if you are going to be wearing anything in your hair for the ceremony and taking it out afterward before the reception. This could be a veil, a decorative hat (fascinator), or another headpiece. You might have two different hairstyles for your day. Sometimes the hairstyle can look beautiful, but it has a short time frame for being comfortable. It could be tight or heavy.

Another thing you can do is to book an appointment with a stylist and try out different options to see how you feel. One thing to let the stylist know is how you normally wear your hair every day. This can help them give you options if you don’t want a lot of work to go into your style. You can also look through style books or thumb through some wedding magazines to see how the model’s hair is styled.

Short Hair

Just because your hair is shorter does not mean you have limited options for style. If you wanted to, you could add extensions or hair pieces. Then you could have a look that you thought you might not be able to achieve with shorter hair. Your hair could be styled in a slightly messy look, loose waves, added texture or volume, a small low bun, a loose braided look, or a half up look that is clipped into place. This length can be great for a fascinator.

Medium Length

If your hair is medium length, then you could lean towards more updo options. Here is where you would need to think about how heavy your hair would be based on the style. One look could be a high bun. This can be loose or tight and have various decorative elements woven into it. A low bun is another option, and you can have ribbons or floral pieces laced through it. Other ideas include a chignon, braided hair, French twist, half up half down, swept to the side, and so much more. Some hairstyle considerations for this length are if you are going to be wearing a veil or other hairpiece, how windy the day will be, and how intricate the decoration is on your dress. It will be a distraction to have your hair caught on the beading of your dress every time you move your head.

Long Hair

This length of hair is very important to understand style wise, because if your hair is long and heavy, it will affect how comfortable your head and neck are for the evening. Additionally, if your hair is long and heavy, it would be good to try out some loose wave styles ahead of the big day to see if your hair will keep the style for the length of the event. Sometimes you might want one thing and your hair has a different opinion. Styles to try for this length are loose braids, low ponytails, clips/barrettes, side bun, half up half down, pinned up, and others. If you are going to wear something in your hair like a veil, you are going to want to make sure that it is easy to put on and take off without getting caught in your hair.

Your hairstyle options for your wedding day is something that is good to put some time and effort into. You will want to try out different stylists as well and ask them questions about your hair and their services related to your wedding day. Will they set it and forget it? Will they be available for quick fixes? How many different hairstyle options can you try out before picking one? What is the latest date before your wedding that you can change your mind about your hairstyle? Your wedding day is a time for you to shine! Picking out your perfect do will just be the icing on the cake (so to speak)!
